THE FIREMAN'S SONG.
O
H! is there not now any fireman's song, I think it a pity they're neglected so long, For wherever, wherever, wherever they be, They're always true-hearted, merry and free. Ding, dong, bang away, Engines now, drag away, Off with your hose, and play away.
When fire is called, and the bells loud ring, Let every one to his engine spring, Let it rain, hail, snow, or blow, There's not one among us that will be slow. Ding, dong, bang away, &c.
And now to a fire how nimbly we trip, And then up a ladder how nimbly we skip, While some at the arms are working away, Which causes the water swiftly to nlay, Ding, dong, bang away, &c.
To keep the cold out, and prevent its striking in, Some will drink brandy and some will drink gin, With a piece of bread and a slice of ham, Cold water and coffee is our best dram. Ding, dong, bang away, &c.
Now here is a health to firemen all, May they always be ready t' attend their call, And wherever, wherever, wherever they be, At the last great alarm may they all ready be.
Ding, dong, bang away,
